My dearest Love,

We have been in love long enough to know each other very well. I now feel that it is time for us to marry and settle down to family life. You know, I am in a position to look after you and to provide you with the necessities and modest comforts of life. Do you think you can go against the wishes of your family and marry me, if it is necessary? I know you have always been afraid of your family, but you are now old enough to know your rights and desires. Your fears, my love, will only increase my doubts that you will ever marry me.

If you are not certain about your parents’ opinion of me, let me speak to them. Perhaps they know about our love and have no objection to accepting me as their son-in-law. You must allow me to have a word with them.

Please let me know your thoughts on the matter. You have no idea how I long to bring you home as my wife.
